Commissioned by the Arts Council of Ireland and the SF Foundation, the artists Ryan Alexiev, Hank Willis Thomas and Jim Ricks have launched the project In Search of the Truth (The Truth Booth) at the Galway Arts Festival in Ireland, July, 2011. In Search of the Truth is an installation comprised of an inflatable, touring "Truth Booth" iconically shaped like a giant cartoon speech bubble with the word "TRUTH" boldly printed on the side. The interior acts much like a photo booth, but serves to compile video responses (up to 2 minutes) from the public. Once seated inside, participants will be invited to consider "What is Truth?" and then complete the statement "The truth is . . ." The recordings will be uploaded to a dedicated website.

The Truth Booth toured Ireland 2011-12, visiting well-known arts festivals, city locations, rural fairs, and the odd stop in between, capturing the diversity of viewpoints of the people in Ireland at a time of change and uncertainty. To expand and engage with audiences, the movements of the Truth Booth and sample responses were tracked via a website insearchofthetruth.net. Ultimately, the project will culminate in a large scale video mosaic and documentary.

The Truth Booth just finished a tour of Afghanistan: Check out THE TRUTH BOOTH BLOG for videos and images of the amazing tour.
